How GetAmnesty Works
GetAmnesty was developed by Nexicon, Inc. as a way for people who have downloaded or shared copyrighted media to settle with the copyright owners quickly, easily and legally; thereby avoiding prosecution and related penalties.
The people and companies who own the rights these online materials work with us because they value their customers and fans. They don’t want sue you to lose Internet service or to sue you. Unfortunately, they also can’t afford to give away their work for free.
How it works
Under the hood, GetAmnesty monitors a variety of Internet protocols,
including Ares, LimeWire, Kazaa, BitTorrent, auctions and newsgroups,
and tracks the identity of any computer that is illegally downloading
different copyrighted files.
We then confirm that the files downloaded violate a copyright through our technology platforms’ artificial intelligence and Automated Human Visual Verification (AHVV) technology. Once the file is confirmed to be an illegally downloaded file, we send a DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) notice via email to the infringer’s Internet service provider (ISP). The ISP is legally required to forward the email to infringers.
When the notice is sent
After opening the email, the infringer clicks a link to visit GetAmnesty.com,
where they can settle their infringement to avoid legal action and receive
a legal release from the copyright owner.
